Here's "Charlotte" by Etienne Hajdu, a sculpture made of shining metal, though I don't know exactly when. The way Hajdu works with negative space is really interesting. It's not just about what's there, but what's missing, what's cut away, like a conversation between presence and absence. Check out the polished surface, how it reflects light. It’s so sleek, almost futuristic, yet the shapes themselves feel organic, like something found in nature. The top part has these cut-out forms that remind me of a puzzle or a map, each piece essential to the whole, but separate. Then, look at the face. The way it merges into the body shows a deep connection, like thought made solid. Hajdu's work reminds me a bit of Barbara Hepworth, that same sense of simplified forms, but with its own distinct voice. Art isn't about easy answers, is it? It's about asking questions, inviting us to look closer and think deeper, and this sculpture does just that.
