Here we have Robert Burian’s small black and white photograph, Untitled (model window, open). It’s like a window, a little stage. It shows a window leaning back. I wonder what it was like for Burian to take this picture. Was it just a study? Was he testing something, or did he have a real deep affection for this particular window? Look at how he has lit the model with lamps. I bet he moved those lamps around for hours. When I look at other photographs, paintings, or drawings, I often ask myself, “What was it like to be them then?” What were they thinking? I mean, did he consider this art? And now it's in a museum, so I guess it is. Maybe we should all take pictures of windows! Or lamps! Anything can be art, right? Thinking about pictures makes me want to go back to the studio and paint! What about you?
