Safinah Fragment 

Mir Emad Hassani created this Safinah Fragment in Persia, sometime around the late 16th or early 17th century. As a master calligrapher in the Safavid court, Emad was deeply embedded in a culture that highly valued the written word as both a spiritual and aesthetic practice. The elegant script and decorative motifs here reflect not only Emad’s skill but also the broader patronage system of the time. Such illuminated manuscripts were luxury items, commissioned by the elite and circulated within a closed circle of courtly intellectuals.
