Benjamin Resnick made this lovely, linear drawing of a "Wrought Iron Toaster" with graphite, ink, and crayon. I just want to hold this image for a moment. I'm imagining Resnick holding the crayon, and what it was like to draw something so simple. There’s a great deal of clarity and confidence in the work. The composition feels very considered. I can picture him, his brow furrowed as he assesses the angles and the light, the crayon scratching and whispering against the paper. It's interesting to think about how artists look at the world. They see not just the thing itself, but also the way light reflects off of it, and the way it sits in space. I also see the work of other artists here. Like precisionist drawings by Sheeler and Demuth. Artists, you know, we are all in an ongoing conversation and exchange of ideas across time.
