Editor: Eliot Hodgkin’s painting, "October," gives me such a peaceful feeling. The flowers, in their silvery vase, glow softly against the window. How do you interpret its quiet beauty? Curator: Quiet, yes, but also observant, wouldn’t you say? The crisp detail of the leaves alongside those skeletal seed heads tells a story of the season, a bittersweet moment of decline rendered with such affection. Do you feel that bittersweetness too? Editor: I see what you mean! It's like holding onto summer, even as autumn takes over. Thanks for pointing that out. Curator: Exactly! And that’s the magic of art, isn’t it? Showing us what we didn’t quite see ourselves.
