This is a sketchbook page by Bramine Hubrecht, made with graphite on paper. It's got these loose, searching lines all over it. I wonder if she was thinking about quick ways to capture movement? I see a few figures, maybe women and a child, but they're just these fleeting gestures. It reminds me of when I'm trying to nail down a pose in my own work, that feeling of chasing after something that keeps slipping away. Look at that arm, how it curves and bends. You can feel the weight of it, the way it connects to the shoulder. It’s like she's trying to understand how the body works, not just what it looks like. It’s like she’s thinking through her hand, letting the pencil lead her to the form. It makes you think about how we learn to see by drawing, and how drawings help us learn to think. It's all connected, you know?
