This “Landscape” was painted by Sattar Bahlulzade, of which the dimensions are 133 x 67 cm. In this landscape, the most striking element is the field of vibrant red poppies, symbols of sleep, peace, and death. Poppies, from ancient times, served as offerings to the dead. We can find similar flowers in many other paintings, such as Van Gogh's "Vase with Red Poppies" or Monet's "Poppy Field". Van Gogh himself was haunted by the image of a field of poppies in a dream that represented his own anxieties about death. However, unlike Van Gogh's turbulent brushstrokes that reflect inner turmoil, Bahlulzade’s poppies seem to burst forth with life and energy, evoking a sense of optimism. It is a dance of life and death, a powerful, raw expression of the human psyche. These recurring motifs are not linear progressions, but rather cyclical resurfacings, constantly evolving, constantly being reinterpreted.
