This is Bruno Munari's Double Spheres Object and it's made of, well, two transparent spheres, one nestled inside the other. I can imagine Munari thinking about Russian dolls, maybe? Or those little snow globes with the tiny scenes inside. Only instead of a cutesy landscape, it’s just pure, simple form. It's like he's asking, what’s the most basic thing we can look at and still find interesting? There's something really calming about it. Like those artists who work with light and space, he's playing with how our eyes see, the way the light bends and shifts through the glass. It reminds me of the art of Gerhard Richter and his use of glass; they both have this cool, detached way of looking at the world. Artists, you know, they’re always looking at each other's work, having this silent conversation across time. And now, we're part of the conversation, too.
