This is Pavel Sivko’s print, it’s called "Between Fences," and there’s no date on it, but the image size is about 30 x 25 cm. Looking at this, I see a world rendered with precise lines and a playful flattening of space. The textures created by Sivko’s printmaking technique give the surface a tactile quality. See the subtle variations in color and the way the ink sits on the paper. It feels like a world of careful observation and meticulous construction. The trees, pruned and peaking over the fence, have a particular charm. The way Sivko details each branch, it reminds me of the work of M.C. Escher. Both artists share an interest in the interplay of space and perspective, but in Sivko’s print we get a softer, more pastoral feel. Ultimately, Sivko invites us to ponder the boundaries we erect—both physical and metaphorical—and the nature that persists.
