Rudy Pozzatti made "Apollo" without a given date, but based on the style, it looks like it was made with a metal plate using intaglio and relief printing techniques. You can see the process, the layering and wiping, the pushing and pulling, and the ink sitting on the surface. The materiality of this print is amazing. There are so many shades of blue and green, and these almost neon orange pops. Look at the lower section: the orange looks like a parachute or an explosion. The various shades of blue evoke a sense of looking back at earth from space and the vastness of space travel. You can almost feel the texture on the surface, the way the ink sits on the paper, giving each form its own distinct presence. "Apollo" reminds me of Robert Rauschenberg's screenprints, which similarly use found imagery, and celebrate process through printmaking. Art's always an ongoing conversation. It’s not about fixed meanings but an invitation to think, feel, and see the world in new ways.
