S. Brodsky's "Glass Container" is a drawing that captures a moment, a feeling, a fleeting glance at something simple. Brodsky has used colored pencil, which is like, a gentle caress on paper, right? The way the color is built up, layer after layer, gives the glass this ethereal, almost weightless quality. It's not just blue, it's a symphony of blues, aquas, and even hints of lavender, which, let's be honest, is kind of brave. Notice that dark contour around the edge. How it makes this thing pop! It reminds me a little of Giorgio Morandi, but with a Brodsky twist. Like Morandi, Brodsky finds poetry in the everyday, but there's a softness here, a vulnerability that's all its own. It's as if Brodsky is saying, "Look, beauty is everywhere, even in a simple glass jar."
