Pol Bury made this kinetic sculpture, Entité erectile, sometime in the 20th century, using painted wood and nylon threads. Look at this piece. Doesn't it just make you want to reach out and touch it? I love the monochromatic palette. It’s like a wintery landscape trapped in a box, or some weird science experiment where nature and geometry collide. The texture here is incredible. The rough, almost brutalist surface of the board contrasts so beautifully with the delicate threads around the sphere, which give it a sense of movement and lightness. It’s not just about what it looks like; it’s about how it feels, both physically and emotionally. The more I look at it, the more I think about the work of Eva Hesse, who was also interested in the tension between order and chaos. This piece is a reminder that art is always in conversation, always evolving. It’s never about having the final word but about keeping the dialogue going.
