Vincent van Gogh’s "Ploughed Fields" is a landscape painting capturing the fields outside Saint-Rémy, where he was a patient at an asylum. In this work, the land is shown as recently ploughed with workers in the fields toiling in the distance. Painted during a period of intense personal struggle, this painting could serve as an insight into van Gogh's emotional state. There's a sense of rawness, of the earth being torn open, which could mirror van Gogh’s own internal turmoil. Yet, despite the upheaval, there's also a feeling of hope, of the possibility of new growth and renewal. The painting reflects the dignity of labor, and also Van Gogh’s own connection to the land. "Ploughed Fields" reflects both the artist's mental state and the universal experience of struggle, resilience, and the enduring hope for a better future.
