Editor: Here we have Bill Dane's black and white photograph, "Untitled (Halifax)." The composition, with the fountain and solitary figure, is striking. What do you see in this piece, from your perspective? Curator: This image makes me think about access and resources. The photograph itself, a multiple and readily available medium, contrasts with the ornate fountain, a symbol of civic wealth and access to water. How does Dane's choice of medium affect the viewer's perception of the scene? Editor: That's a great point. I hadn't considered the photograph itself as a commentary. Thanks for the insight. Curator: Considering the means of production allows us to understand art as more than just aesthetic.
