Alfred Freddy Krupa made this artwork called 'The Sea' with ink on paper, we don't know exactly when. It's interesting how Krupa uses this very fluid, almost casual approach to mark-making. There's a real sense of the hand being present. The ink washes across the page, creating these blurry edges, and it makes you think about the ocean's movement, its constant flux. Look at the way Krupa handles the ink, sometimes dense and opaque, other times diluted and transparent, creating depth and texture. The surface of the paper itself becomes part of the artwork, its wrinkles and imperfections adding to the overall effect. It’s like the sea and sky are being built from the bottom up, with light and heavy strokes, all contributing to the emotional weight of the piece. I'm reminded of the work of Joan Mitchell, who also captured the essence of nature through abstraction. Ultimately, art is a conversation, an ongoing exchange of ideas across time and space.
