This piece of old quilted cloth, made by Lucille Lacoursiere, is a fragment of someone's history. Red fabric, once part of a quilt, bears images of the hunt. I imagine Lucille handling this material, maybe patching something up, or maybe just saving it. Those tiny figures with their rifles, frozen in their painted world; it’s like a memory pressed onto cloth. I wonder what she thought of them. Did she see a story, or just a pattern? The red is strong, almost aggressive, but the figures are so small, like an afterthought. Quilts are about warmth, comfort, and home. But here, there's this little drama unfolding. It makes you think about how we piece together our lives, the bits we keep, and the stories they tell, even when we don't mean them to. Artists preserve conversations across time, allowing the future to respond to the past.
