This is a polaroid of Carly Simon, made by Andy Warhol. You know, sometimes I think about Warhol with his polaroid camera, right? I imagine him wanting to capture the feeling of instantness and the personality of someone as iconic as Carly Simon. I wonder, was it his intention to capture something deeper, beyond the surface? Warhol’s broader practice, including his silkscreen paintings, was very much about reproduction and seriality, and, of course, celebrity. Was Warhol trying to tap into that same energy here? Or was he just interested in Carly’s beautiful portrait? Ultimately, painting, photography, it's all about this ongoing conversation, you know? Each artist learns from and reacts to what came before.
