Charles Caseau made this painting of a flask, we don't know when, using paint on paper. See how Caseau's used layers of blue, building it up to catch the light, it reminds me of working in my studio, layering color on a canvas, each stroke a decision. It's a process, not just a picture. Up close, you can almost feel the smoothness of the glass, the way the light would reflect off its curves. And that intense blue, it’s so present. The vertical lines create a strong sense of order. I wonder if Giorgio Morandi saw this piece! It's like Caseau is inviting us to pause, to really look at something we might ordinarily overlook. Art isn't about answers, it's about the questions it stirs in us.
