Editor: So, this is "Bacchus" by François Garnier. It's hard to pin down the date, but it lives at the Harvard Art Museums. There's a pensive mood about it. What do you make of this Bacchus? Curator: Ah, yes, a moment of quietude for the god of wine! I wonder if Garnier is teasing us? Is this Bacchus reflecting on the fleeting nature of earthly pleasures, or merely contemplating his next vintage? Perhaps a bit of both, wouldn't you say? Editor: Perhaps! It's interesting to think of a god having an 'off' day. Thanks for sharing. Curator: My pleasure. It makes you wonder what the gods get up to between the revelry!
