David Young Cameron made this print, Ben Ledi, using etching on paper. It's all soft grays and blacks, like a memory fading in and out of focus. You can imagine him in the studio, maybe late at night, the acid biting into the metal plate, a slow, careful dance between control and chance. I wonder what Cameron was thinking as he made this? Maybe about the permanence of the mountains versus the fleeting quality of the moment. Or maybe he was simply drawn to the way the light hit the water. That single mountain peak sits in the center of the horizon. It's solid but hazy and dreamlike. This feels different from the crispness you see in some landscape painting. Instead, Cameron invites us into a world of suggestion, where the unseen feels as important as what's actually depicted. Ultimately, artists are in conversation across time. This reminds us that seeing is about feeling, and that art can be a way to touch something deep inside ourselves.
