Julius Evola made this painting, Mazzo di fiori, with oil paint and a knack for disrupting expectations. Look how he's chucked out the rulebook! It's not about copying what's in front of you, but more like letting the paint have a voice, pushing and pulling, making a flower thingy that’s more about feeling than seeing. The colors are bold, almost clashing, which I love, and the paint looks smooth, like butter. The shapes are, well, bonkers. I'm thinking about this red star shape. Evola seems to have just slapped it in there, smack-dab in the middle. It’s like he’s saying, "Here, have a star, because why not?" It makes me think a bit of Hilma af Klint, another rule breaker. But Evola's got this chaotic energy that’s all his own. Art's not about answers, it's about keeping the conversation alive, even if it gets a little weird.
