Robert Frank made this photo, From the bus 30, with film and camera. I'm thinking about this matrix of images, this sheet of celluloid, and how it captures little moments, a kind of seriality that's really cool. I imagine Frank on the bus, clicking away, trying to seize the ephemeral. Each frame is like a little painting, a glimpse of life unfolding. And the fact that they're all together, on this one sheet, it's like he’s saying, "Look, the world is fragmented, fast-paced, but it's all connected." It reminds me of other photographers who explore the everyday, like Garry Winogrand, or even painters like Fairfield Porter, who found beauty in the mundane. There's a certain poetry in seeing these moments strung together, a rhythm of seeing, of being present in the world. It shows how one person, one artist, can see so much from one seat.
