Gunther Gerzso's sculpture presents an abstract form in bronze, set against a base that seems to evoke water. It reminds me that artmaking is a process of construction and layering, whether you're painting or building. The bronze has a warmth to it, a reddish-brown that contrasts beautifully with the green and blue hues of the base. The texture is smooth, almost polished, which gives it a tactile quality. The forms are angular and geometric, like a cityscape or an abstracted figure. Look at the way the bronze pieces intersect, creating shadows and depth. There's a complexity here, a puzzle of shapes that invites you to explore it from different angles. Gerzso’s architectural sculptures echo some of the formal concerns of Constructivist sculptors like Naum Gabo, but I'm reminded of how art is always in conversation with what came before, reinterpreting and reimagining the past. In the end, art embraces ambiguity, welcoming multiple readings rather than settling on one fixed meaning.
