Eyvind Earle’s 'Fire red and gold' vibrates with such intensity, you can almost feel the heat radiating off it. I can picture him, brush in hand, layering those strokes of fire red and gold onto the canvas. There's something so compelling about the surface of this piece, isn't there? It's a whole world of looking. Thick swirls of paint carve out the tree's trunk, giving it a sculptural presence. The red leaves droop off the branches like teardrops, creating a poignant rhythm. And those flecks of gold – they're like tiny moments of revelation, sparking against the fiery red. I keep thinking about how the physicality of painting allows us to experience the world in a completely unique way. Earle’s painting style reminds me of Klimt and Hundertwasser. In its own way, it invites us to slow down, to feel, to see things anew. It’s a conversation, this painting thing, across time and space. A conversation that’s still very much alive.
