Curatorial notes

Lubo Kristek’s mixed media artwork, *In the Prematurely Cloned Age of One Planet*, presents a striking tableau of contrasting textures and forms. The juxtaposition of the smooth, blue-toned mannequin against the rough, aged stone wall immediately captures the eye, evoking a sense of unease. Kristek masterfully employs semiotic codes through the mannequin's fragmented body. The flower-like shape in place of the head alongside the mechanical implants and the void in the torso challenge our understanding of the human form and prompt questions about identity and technological intrusion. The objects scattered around the base read as symbols themselves. Their arrangement is not random, but rather a deliberate act of visual syntax, inviting us to decode the relationship between the organic and inorganic, the natural and artificial. Kristek's work operates within a critical discourse on the human condition in an era of rapid technological advancement. It emphasizes the transient nature of meaning and our continuous negotiation with established categories.
