David Kakabadzé made this artwork in 75 x 60 cm, it's called "Constructive-decorative composition" and has an industrial feel to it. Looking at this piece, I imagine the artist piecing together disparate materials, almost like a collage but with a sculptural depth. I wonder what it was like for him, balancing the flat picture plane with the urge to create something that pops out, something almost architectural. The juxtaposition of textures, from the smooth, curved copper to the shiny metal accents, makes you want to reach out and touch it. Is it a figure? An abstract construction? I am not sure. I love the way its biomorphic forms evoke a sense of playful ambiguity. It reminds me of Picabia's playful Dada experimentations, but with a Constructivist twist. There's a conversation happening here, an echo of the avant-garde spirit. Artists like Kakabadzé inspire me to keep pushing, to embrace the unexpected, and to always question what a painting can be.
