Here, Verena Loewensberg presents a composition dominated by simple geometric forms and primary colors. The red square, the assertive protagonist of this piece, is offset by the serene blue and grounding green. These shapes and hues carry echoes of past artistic movements, harking back to the Bauhaus principles of functionalism and the emotional directness of color. The square, a symbol of stability and order, appears throughout history. Think of the Roman city plans, or the foundations of Renaissance architecture. In Loewensberg’s hands, the square is tilted, disrupting its static nature, and infusing the composition with a subtle tension. This tilt evokes a sense of unease, tapping into our collective memories. The cyclical resurgence of geometric forms, each time imbued with new cultural and emotional weight, speaks to our ongoing quest for balance.
