Tetyana Yablonska made Seeds with oil paints, and I can only imagine her delight as it emerged. The paintings’ color palette, with its deep blues and glowing pinks, feels dreamlike. The paint is applied in smooth, flat areas that emphasize the shapes and forms. The woman floating, almost dancing, holding a giant peony, the seeds all around, like a dream. And below, another woman is selling seeds. It feels like the painting explores the intersection of reality and imagination, blurring the lines between the tangible and the ethereal. Yablonska, like many artists, was engaged in an ongoing conversation with the world around her, using paint to express her unique perspective. And as viewers, we bring our own experiences to the work, creating new layers of meaning and understanding. I think this painting says that, for both of us, what we find matters.
