This photograph by Robert Burian captures a transport helicopter, a modern vessel of flight, but within it, we see echoes of ancient symbols. Consider the blades: their whirling motion recalls the solar wheel, an emblem of cyclical renewal found across cultures, from ancient Mesopotamia to the Celtic world. Like the sun's journey across the sky, the helicopter suggests a journey, a transition from one place to another. Even its association with the Marines infuses it with the martial spirit, reminiscent of Mars, the god of war, whose chariot traverses the heavens. These connections, however subtle, link our modern age to the collective memories of the past, reminding us that progress is never a linear march forward, but a dance with the symbols and stories that have shaped us. The subconscious processes, stirred by rotating blades, awaken within us deep memories of the past, and stir a primal sense of movement and transformation.
