This photograph shows a double-bottomed lid and ring for a cooking pot under the drilling machine; it was taken by an anonymous artist, at an unknown date. I think the first thing that strikes me about this image is its intense industrial feel. I imagine the photographer walking through this factory floor, perhaps dwarfed by the size of these machines and the scale of production that takes place here. It’s also cool to see what happens before the finished product. It might have been a place of noise and steam and relentless activity; the photographer may have had to work quickly, capturing the shot before the machine began again. I wonder, too, about the labor involved in making these pots and pans. What was the working day like? And how did these anonymous workers view the objects they were creating, day in and day out? I'm so interested in how this anonymous artist made a picture of it. This is the beauty of finding art in everyday objects.
