Liam Gillick’s ‘Liaison Structure’ is made from vertical bars of colour, each one placed right next to the other. This feels, to me, like a piece about process, the way Gillick uses repetition and color to make something new. I like how Gillick embraces the physicality of his materials, how the colours sit so close together, bumping into each other. It's not just about seeing the colours, but also about feeling them, somehow. Look at the yellow bars, they have this kind of glow, almost like they are lit from within. It's such a simple gesture, but it changes everything. Gillick reminds me of Sol LeWitt, another artist who used simple forms and colors to create complex and engaging works. And like LeWitt, Gillick invites us to see the world in a new way, to find beauty and meaning in the most unexpected places. For me, that is what art is all about – it's about opening up possibilities, not closing them down.
