Editor: This small etching, attributed to the British School, depicts a meeting or maybe some sort of judgment. The detail is incredible given its size. What’s your read on this piece? Curator: Well, isn't it a gem? The cross-hatching creates a captivating depth, pulling us into this dimly lit chamber. And the characters, shrouded in shadow, evoke a sense of mystery. I wonder, is it about justice or perhaps diplomacy? What symbols do you see? Editor: I noticed the scales of justice above the window, but the king or judge seems to be the focus. Is this about earthly versus divine law, maybe? Curator: Perhaps! Or maybe it’s about how earthly power attempts to embody divine law… food for thought. Editor: Definitely gives me a lot to think about!
