Editor: So, this is "Washington" by Joseph Andrews. It has an almost ghostly feel, like a memory fading. What's your take on it? Curator: It’s interesting you say that. It does have an ethereal quality, doesn't it? Perhaps because, like any good portrait, it captures not just likeness but also… longing. Do you feel a connection to the past when you see it? Editor: Definitely! I guess it’s like looking at a founding father through a soft lens of history. I never thought of portraits in terms of longing. Curator: Well, all art is a kind of looking back, isn't it? A way of holding onto something that might otherwise be lost, perhaps even ourselves.
