Pierre Bonnard made "The Open Window" with paint, and probably not just one kind, or one brush. Look how the wall inside is stripes of orange and pink, but the outside is a mix of greens and blues, which are like, opposites, but they somehow smoosh together. There's a sense of both looking out and being inside, all at once, which is a cool trick! Bonnard isn't trying to trick us into thinking the window is real, though. He's playing with paint itself, and how colors can vibrate against each other. There's this little cat at the bottom too, it’s like Bonnard’s saying, art is also like a pet – it's there, it’s quiet, it changes the atmosphere just by being in the room. I love how he makes us feel like we're in the room with him, peeking out at the world, just like Vuillard did, and like I try to do in my own way too.
