Editor: Joshua Dudley Greer captured this photograph, "Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station, near Middleton, Pennsylvania," in 2007. It's so still, almost unsettling, with those cooling towers looming in the background. What story do you think it’s trying to tell? Curator: The silence is deafening, isn't it? It's as if Greer has captured the ghost of a promise. There's a tension between the mundane barriers and the grand scale of the plant. Is it a monument to progress, or a warning sign? What do you feel when you look at those steam plumes? Editor: A little uneasy, to be honest. Like something's about to happen. Curator: Exactly! Greer plays with that unease, doesn't he? He reminds us that even the most ordinary scenes can hold extraordinary weight. Editor: I never thought a landscape could be so emotionally charged. Thanks for pointing that out. Curator: My pleasure. Art’s like that, always whispering secrets if you listen closely.
