Kinder Album made this watercolor, 'Window to Peaceful Life', and for me, it's about a body, a self, rendered softly, but with this rectangle right in the middle of its chest. It’s like a portal, or maybe a screen, showing a vision of... well, peace! I can imagine the artist, maybe spacing out, just musing on the inside and outside. There are these delicate brushstrokes in the sky, and then the body that is made of even more delicate washes. You know, watercolor can be so unforgiving; you can see every mistake. And that dark aura surrounding the figure, it's kind of spooky. Like a halo made of shadow! It's not perfect, the watercolor bleeds and blends. Album lets the medium do its thing, and then adds the window on the body, the portal. The idea of one vision being literally held *inside* of another one makes me think about how we all do that, you know? How we hold our worlds inside of us?
