This 'Untitled' piece by Soledad Sevilla is a real head-scratcher made with graphite on paper. It's got this repeating geometric pattern that's almost hypnotic. What's so cool about it is the process - you can see how the artist is working through something, trying to figure it out as they go. It’s not about perfection, but the actual act of making and thinking. Look closely, and you'll see how each mark adds to the overall texture. The graphite is laid down in thin layers, almost like washes, creating depth and subtle gradations of tone. The shapes are ambiguous, but they sort of look like cubes, but then they also look like diamonds. It's like an optical illusion that keeps shifting depending on how you look at it. It makes me think of some of the Op artists like Bridget Riley. Ultimately, art is about asking questions, and this piece certainly leaves you wondering.
