Axel Holm’s landscape, *Udenfor store Hareskov*, invites us into a world rendered with delicate lines and tonal variations. I imagine Holm, back in the day, carefully etching each line, building up a scene that feels both familiar and dreamlike. You can sense the quiet focus, almost meditative, as he translated the Danish countryside onto the plate. I wonder, did he work en plein air, or from memory? Notice how the reflections in the water seem to dissolve the solid forms, blending earth and sky. The thatched roof cottage becomes a focal point, a place of refuge amidst the expansive landscape. It reminds me a bit of the Barbizon School painters, or maybe even some of Corot's quieter moments. There’s a real conversation happening here, about the poetics of space, and how we find our place within it. Ultimately, I think it is a reminder that art is about seeing, feeling, and then sharing that vision with others.
