René Magritte, a Belgian artist, painted "Invisible World" during a period of immense social change, shaped by the aftermath of World War I and the rise of new ideologies. Magritte’s surrealist style challenges our perceptions of reality. In this painting, a large rock stands imposingly before an open doorway which frames a tranquil seaside. What is usually outside is now inside and vice versa. The rock, a symbol of permanence and weight, contrasts sharply with the fluid, expansive sea and sky, playing with the concept of space and what we consider "real." Magritte once said: "My painting is visible images which conceal nothing; they evoke mystery and, indeed, when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question 'What does that mean'?". Through his work, Magritte prompts us to question the norms that shape our understanding. "Invisible World" invites us to reflect on the hidden forces that shape our existence, challenging us to look beyond the surface and to consider the mysteries that lie beneath.
