Jules Perahim made "Paysage traverse d'incantations" with oil paint, and I can just imagine him, brush in hand, conjuring this bizarre landscape. There’s this otherworldly flying contraption – part bird, part machine – floating over a serene, grassy field. What strikes me is the odd combination of the dreamy and the mechanical; it reminds me of Max Ernst! The white wings are so stark against the muted greens and blues, giving the whole scene a surreal, almost cinematic quality. I wonder if Perahim felt like he was piecing together a puzzle of his own imagination? The way he’s balanced these strange elements – the soft landscape with the hard-edged aircraft – it’s like he’s inviting us to enter a world where anything is possible. It’s like he’s saying, “Come on in, let’s see what we can conjure up together." I feel so inspired.
