Dragan Ilić Di Vogo made this painting, Anunnaki, with oil on canvas, and the process feels very intuitive. The surface texture gives the impression of fluidity, like something that's still in the process of becoming. Look at how he blends the colors, especially around the figure. There's a kind of hazy quality to it, like the whole scene is emerging from a dream, or is just about to dissolve. I'm particularly drawn to the faces at the bottom – the way their features are both present and dissolving, with some expressive red markings. It’s like they’re caught between worlds, or between states of being. This reminds me of other surrealists like Max Ernst, who also explored the subconscious mind through enigmatic imagery. Art is always an echo of conversations across time, a constant exchange of ideas. Di Vogo invites us to embrace the ambiguity and multiple layers of meaning, allowing our own interpretations to take flight.
