This painting, “Face” by Oleg Holosiy, looks like it was made with oil paint, and maybe some other stuff mixed in. The way the paint is applied looks quick, like he was really going for it, not worrying too much about getting it perfect. I like how the surface has all these textures and colors. There's a lot of black and white, but then you see little bits of yellow and blue popping up. And the paint itself looks kind of crusty in places, with all these cracks and drips. It’s almost as if the painting is alive, with its own history and layers. Check out that one little green eye. It’s so subtle, but it’s really staring at you! It’s like, is the painting looking at me, or am I looking at it? I’m reminded of Francis Bacon’s paintings of faces. Both artists had a way of capturing something raw and intense, like the face is a mask that’s about to slip off. Painting is a conversation, and each artist builds on what came before, pushing it in new and unexpected directions.
