This plate of blood cells, captured under magnification, is a testament to science's gaze into the microcosm. These cellular circles, some colored and some colorless, are reminiscent of alchemical symbols, suggesting transformation and the elixir of life. We see an echo here of the Ouroboros, an ancient symbol depicting a serpent eating its own tail. This symbolizes the cyclical nature of life and death, renewal and decay. In the same way, these blood cells participate in a cycle of life within us, nourishing and sustaining our bodies. Consider also the mandala, a circular figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The arrangement of these cells within the circular field evokes a similar sense of wholeness and interconnectedness. The visualization of these cells engages us on a deeply subconscious level. It evokes the intense psychological connection between macro and microcosm, the seen and the unseen. This image is not only scientific but also deeply human, connecting us to the ancient quest for understanding life itself.
