Paul Klee made 'Clouds over Bor’ with watercolor on paper. Although seemingly simple, the process of watercolor painting is far from unskilled. The way Klee layered translucent washes of color, one over the other, speaks to his mastery of the medium. You can see how the watery paint bleeds and blooms across the surface of the paper, creating a luminous effect that evokes the fleeting quality of clouds. Klee's approach to art-making was deeply rooted in experimentation. He explored the inherent qualities of his materials and allowed them to guide his creative process. 'Clouds over Bor’ is a wonderful example of how an artist can transform humble materials like paper and watercolor into a work of profound beauty and expressive power. The finished work encourages us to appreciate not only the final image but also the artistic journey embedded within it. Klee pushes us to look past art history’s established distinctions between fine art and craft.
