Tadeusz Makowski gave us this landscape with thick strokes of oil paint. I’m really drawn to the way the mountain looms—it’s almost like a big, watchful presence. And then down below, you've got this little village nestled in the foreground, rendered in warm yellows and browns. It feels like two different worlds colliding on one canvas. I can imagine Makowski standing there, squinting, trying to capture that particular light as the sun sets. He seems to be in conversation with artists like Van Gogh, who used the same impasto strokes to render the landscape. I think the way artists build on each other's ideas is really fascinating. A painting is never truly finished. It's always open to new interpretations and possibilities.
