What do you see in this piece, and what story does it tell you? Curator: For me, it's all about the dance between light and shadow. Delacroix teases out this lone figure, bathed in a glow that seems to emanate from the forge itself. It feels like a study, really, a whisper of a story, isn’t it? Almost as if the blacksmith himself is being forged. Editor: It's as if the light reveals the inner strength of the blacksmith. I hadn't considered that. Curator: Exactly. It makes you wonder about the power of light to transform even the most mundane activities. A blacksmith, transformed into a figure of myth. Editor: So much for just being a blacksmith!
