Editor: Here we have John Singer Sargent’s "Study of a Head," at the Harvard Art Museums. It’s just a sketch, really, but so evocative. What do you make of it? Curator: Isn’t it lovely? To me, it whispers of quiet introspection. Sargent captures something so vulnerable in that averted gaze. I wonder what dreams inhabit that space. What do you think? Editor: I was struck by the contrast between the soft shading and the sharper, almost clinical lines around the ear. Curator: Yes, the interplay between precision and fluidity! A true masterclass. It makes you consider what is external and internal to all of us. I wonder, can art truly ever capture the inner life? Editor: Hmm, something to keep thinking about, definitely.
