David Lynch made this mixed media work, it’s called "Billy (and His Friends) Did Find Sally In...", and it looks like it was made with a lot of intention, but also with a certain freedom. The surface is kind of rough and textured, with bits of paint and other materials built up to create this almost dream-like scene. Look at the dark, thick paint used for the tree, you can almost feel the weight and density of it. And then there are these delicate, spindly lines reaching out from the figure on the left, like he's receiving some kind of signal. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s going on in this image, but there's this feeling of unease, maybe even a little bit of danger. It reminds me a little of some of the darker, more surreal elements in the work of Francis Bacon, but with Lynch's own unique spin. Ultimately, it’s a painting that embraces ambiguity. There is no one right way to interpret it.
