Here we have Karlo Zvirynsky’s *Application*, which looks like a collage made with colored paper that has been torn and layered. It’s a playful and dynamic composition, where the act of making is really visible. The layering of shapes creates this shallow depth, and you can feel the materiality of the paper. Look at that long vertical strip of darker green paper in the bottom left - how the torn edge reveals the texture of the paper, and the way it contrasts with the smoother, solid blocks of color nearby. These formal relationships create this incredible sense of visual rhythm. Zvirynsky's work reminds me of some of Matisse’s late paper cut-outs, especially in its emphasis on bold shapes and colors. But there's something rawer and more immediate here. This work reminds us that art is not just about the final image, but about the process, the choices, and the conversations that happen along the way. It's about embracing the unexpected and finding beauty in the imperfect.
