Editor: So, this is "D" by Bridget Riley. No date given, but it's in the Tate. All those shimmering dots on a blue background... It's kind of hypnotic! What do you make of it? Curator: Hypnotic is a great word! To me, Riley's work is pure sensation. It's less about representation and more about how our eyes and brains interpret patterns. I wonder, does it feel like the surface is moving? Editor: Yes, a little bit! It's subtle, but definitely not static. Is that the point, to make us question what we're seeing? Curator: Exactly! Riley is playing with perception itself. She is a magician creating optical experiences! Editor: Wow, I’ll never look at dots the same way again! Curator: Nor will I, it's like a reminder that seeing is an active, creative process.
